SO YOU WANT
MORE WORK
AS AN ACTOR ?
Acting is show business.
Let's look at the second half of that ... it's business.
An actor is expecting people with money to give them a shot at immortality.

Lets meet that person with money ... "the client."
The one who CHOOSES from all the actors headshots available.

The client looks at headshots online,
If yours is not pleasing... goodbye.

A great headshot is your only chance to progress further...

What is going to lift your headshot above all the others?
Or what is going to banish you to nowheresville?

Let's ask the client ...

What I want to see ...
  • I must see their acting ability in one shot
  • focussed intention in the eyes
  • well lit, inspired professional photography
  • vitality and commitment
  • comfortable in themselves
  • the headshot must accurately portray the type of person the actor is
  • most of all they simply must look like the character I am casting
and ideally inspire me by adding a more interesting dimension to that character!
  • a bonus is having extra photos showing other characters that can be played
(up to a maximum of four unless you are a phenomenal character actor or mimic)

What turns me off an actor...
  • cheap backyard photos (believe me, a lot of actors headshots look like backyard photos)
  • photos depicting a character type not appropriate to the actual actor
(ie: overly flattering photos of non-glamorous actors)
  • uncomfortable faces
  • worried, hurried, harried, windblown, upset or sad faces
  • no sparkle in the eyes
  • OLD, OLD actors headshots I saw last year, and the year before in SHOWCAST

The actors headshot should inspire me to want to get out
my lights and camera and shoot that person.

The bottom line is...
the client is spending
a million bucks on this production...
they expect a professional
to be willing and able to spend
money on a great headshot.
